An introduction to our API
The API we have follows REST principles. When we discuss our API, we use words like 'REST' and 'RESTful'.
REST stands for Representational State Transfer, it's an architectural style used as an alternative to RPC or SOAP-based web services.
There is no official REST standard but there are some common approaches and practices that are used across the development community that help to provide a working framework for how RESTful APIs should be developed to work.
We follow most of the practices and common definitions of the RESTful style.
Our API has several built-in HTTP features like HTTP authentication, HTTP verbs and HTTP status codes.
We use JSON for all responses.
