Entering a maximum weight for delivery rates based on total value
If you have one or more delivery rates that are 'priced based' (i.e. based on the total value of goods in a customer's basket) you may want to place a weight limit on the delivery rate.
For example, you may have a delivery rate applicable to baskets over £100 that offers free delivery, but if a customer's basket exceeds 5kg (because it contains some particularly bulky items) you don't want that delivery rate to be available.
For each priced based delivery rate you can specify a maximum weight limit.
To activate the feature, select 'checkout' from the left menu and then 'delivery rates'. Click the 'delivery settings' button in the top right corner.
Select 'yes' for the setting shown in the above screenshot and click to save the changes.
When creating or editing value based delivery a new field is shown in the bottom right corner of the form.
Enter the maximum weight that the customer's basket can be before this delivery rate is unavailable for them to choose from.
Don't forget, you'll need to have entered weights for your products or product variations for this to take effect.
